Jay Carney

I’ve been sick with the flu for almost a week now.  Laid up in bed, sleeping, watching lots of House of Cards on Netflix (great show, by the way).  Anyway, it’s my first day back at work, and what do I do during lunch?  Yup… draw.

I saw this funny-face photo of Jay Carney online a couple weeks ago and saved it to my phone.  Today, while watching yet another episode of House of Cards, I thought I’d whip out my old business cards and start doodlin’.  And here’s what happened…

Ralf

I graduated a bit from the business cards.  Yesterday and today, during lunch, I did this portrait of a guy named Ralf on ACEO.

Ralf is German, but speaks very good English, although with a THICK German accent, which I think is very, very cool.

Rick

Been a while, eh?  Very busy, that’s all.

Meanwhile, I’ve been working on another miniature portrait of a coworker on the back of one of my old business cards.  I have an entire studio in my basement, but never, EVER, get down there, and this little cards are perfect for watercolor.  Portable, too, which is great for carrying around in my backpack with the Koi watercolor set and my waterbrush pens.  Just great for creating-on-the-go.

So… here’s Rick.  I think I’m gonna give this one to him.  Can’t quite get the nerve up to hand out the others.

Some Abstract Fun

My boys love to paint, too.  Our youngest, Owen, asked if he could paint earlier this week, so I took out some ACEO watercolor paper and the Koi pocket field sketch box, and he went to work.  I added some black brush pen to it, and here’s what we created…
